What affects the price

The final price for a new gas fireplace depends on a few moving parts. First, you have to consider whether you are installing a unit into an existing chimney or creating a new opening in a wall, which adds labor. The type of venting required and the current proximity of your gas lines also play a big role in the complexity of the install. Aesthetic choices, like premium stone surrounds or remote-controlled flame features, will adjust the total as well.

Many people think about fireplaces only in the cold, but summer is actually a great time to schedule an installation. Since demand is lower, you can often get your project finished without the long wait times seen during the peak winter months, making sure you are ready before the first frost arrives.

Frequently asked in Aurora

What's the average cost of a gas fireplace insert?

What are the disadvantages of a gas fireplace insert?

A key disadvantage is the absence of the natural aroma and crackling sound of a wood fire. Gas fireplaces require a gas line and proper ventilation, which can add to the initial installation costs. You also don't get the tactile experience of building and tending a wood fire. Pros can discuss these trade-offs for your Aurora home.

Can you put a gas fireplace insert in an existing fireplace?

You also miss the satisfying physical process of managing a wood fire. A specialist can help you evaluate these points.

What is the lifespan of a gas fireplace?

With consistent professional maintenance, a gas fireplace insert can typically last between 15 to 20 years, and often longer. Regular servicing ensures its efficient and safe operation. This includes checking the burner, pilot assembly, and exhaust systems. Inquire about service plans for your Aurora installation.
